What's So Extreme About A Seat Cushion?

Steve Gambhir of Ergo21

Ergo21's website slogan reads, “Comfort. Joy. Happiness.” It’s a fitting description for the company’s product, the Ergo21 Extreme Comfort Seat Cushion, which uses advanced LiquiCell Technology to help customers sit hours and hours without aches or soreness. Company president and oGoing member Steve Gambhir used to drive four to six hours a day in LA traffic setting up merchant credit card processing accounts. “I tried using a different cushion every month to relieve the back pain from long hours in the car,” Steve recalls. “Finally, my wife said, ‘Why don't you design your own cushion?’ so I did.”

Innovative LiquiCell Technology Improves Circulation

LiquiCell Technology strategically places low viscosity fluid inside the cushions’ ultra-thin cells to reduce discomfort associated with prolonged contact between the body and an object. The liquid stays in constant motion, letting the body glide and float. This provides instant comfort, reduces numbness and improves circulation by 150 percent. “We’ve had countless reviews on Amazon from people who sit for long periods in office chairs or wheelchairs,” explains Steve. “These customers report that their sores went away and they can now sit for hours without any discomfort.” Since LiquiCell performs better than gel, foam or air, it’s even being used in hospital beds to prevent pressure sores and skin breakdown for patients who cannot move.

One Seat Cushion Size Doesn't Fit All. Ergo21 Finds An Answer, Actually Five

Steve quickly discovered that one cushion size definitely wouldn’t fit all. Ergo21’s biggest challenge has been to accommodate all kinds of users and their different sizes, weights and needs, plus the seemingly endless variety of office and home chairs, car and truck seats, wheelchairs, patio chairs, and travel seats – all of which demand cushions of varying sizes and shapes. “We poured over thousands of marketplace reviews and cushion designs and every review we received for our own cushions,” says Steve. “I even called many Ergo21 users personally to see how we could improve our product line, and then it was back to the drawing board.”

Ergo21 Seat Cushions Provide Instant Relief from Back Pain

The result: Ergo21 now offers five cushions specifically designed for different applications. Each model reduces fatigue and helps with tail burn and buttock, hip, leg, and sciatica pain. Many of Steve’s customers have tried 10 to 12 cushions before finding a Ergo21 solution, and they’ve contacted him about their success stories. One man who had injured his tailbone seven years ago and couldn’t drive more than 10 minutes without pain called to say that the first time he tried the Sports Cushion, he drove 180 miles pain free. Ergo21 has recently introduced pillow cushion, mattress overlay and bike cushion. Another interesting fact: All Ergo21 seat cushions are proudly made in USA.

Personal Interaction With Customers

This personal interaction with consumers is a big reason why Steve joined oGoing. He appreciates the platform and exposure to 12,500 businesses offered by the network. Steve also believes that oGoing has been a big help with his company’s biggest challenge: promoting Ergo21 cushions to target markets via social media and other online channels. In fact, he’s received quite a few calls from HR managers on oGoing looking for a solution for their employees who sit all day long at their desks and or drive long distances.

However, Steve’s presence on oGoing essentially reflects his business philosophy of making sure Ergo21 provides excellent customer experience. “We want to provide our customers the comfort they are looking for,” says Steve. “We feel a deep sense of gratitude when customers call us and say that our cushions have changed their life.”

Seven Steps to Social Media Success for Small Business

clock June 5, 2015 07:07 by author Ogoing Team

What are the Seven Steps to Social Media Success for Small Business?

How can a small business achieve measurable success and consistent ROI using social media marketing on a budget? oGoing founder Sanjay Dalal presents seven steps to social media success.

Small businesses are beginning to launch and grow their social media initiatives. These companies need guidance and education on how to create an effective social media strategy, navigate the social networks, manage customer interactions, analyze the results, and achieve consistent ROI.

oGoing is USA's leading local business social network. Join oGoing to get found online, share your story, promote products & services, and attract new customers. Join here.

oGoing presents the Seven Steps to Success with Social Media Marketing for Small Business guide:

Seven Steps to Social Media Success

Social Media Success Step 1: Set social media objectives and goals

What does the business want to gain from social media marketing initiatives? What is the key objective? Is it to increase qualified leads, deliver better customer service, get more business, create a great brand, obtain better reviews or gain more trust? If the business is starting out on social media, it will take a lot of effort and time to undertake multiple objectives simultaneously. Ask the marketing manager or owner what their immediate goals are! Be very specific about the social media marketing objectives.

Social Media Success Step 2: Determine the social media channels, and create a beautiful profile or two

It's easy to fall in the trap of creating profiles on multiple social media channels, and then forgetting about them. Just having a profile is like an empty store front. No customer would dare go there. Social media is all about engagement. Each social media channel takes at least 4 to 6 hours of management every week. A business needs to be judicious of the time and resources, and start out with one or two social media channels. Creating a beautiful profile that exemplifies the business and gets customers excited is the first step.

Social Media Success Step 3: Listen and learn from the customers, partners and industry experts

Ask this question: "Who are our customers and what can we learn from what they are saying and doing?" Most of the business' customers would already be using social media. It's easy to find these customers (search for them), and see what's going on. The business also needs to think about "Who are the customers' customers?" In short, a business must take the time to learn about the customers' needs, and understand the customers' perceptions. The business should also learn how the partners are using social media, what the experts are saying and the industry trends.

Social Media Success Step 4: Make new connections with customers

It's time to connect! Once the business has determined who the customers, prospects, partners and experts are, it should begin connecting with them. Connect slowly! It may not make sense to connect with competing customers at the same time. It's best to follow a few customers, and engage well with them. Are more connections better? Just connecting with many users without real engagement does not yield promising results. Do not get caught up in the game of buying new followers or fans for the social channels - most of the paid connections are inactive users and the business will not materially benefit from them. Quality of connections matter a lot, not the quantity.

Social Media Success Step 5: Engage with customers

Promote the customers, ask customers for feedback, and provide answers to questions. Once a business begins listening and following the customers, the managers should share what their customers are saying. Promote the customers' updates. Respond to customers' messages. Get feedback about the products and services from the customers. Ask questions from customers about their updates and begin a conversation. Whenever possible, answer the customers' questions immediately and frequently. Engage with the customers! The more a business engages with their customers and prospects online, the better the ROI.

Social Media Success Step 6: Share relevant content. What would inspire and excite the customers?

Ask this question: "What do your customers want to learn from you?" Are customers seeing and treating the business as the subject matter or industry expert? Does the business have something interesting, inspiring and useful to share that will get them excited? Customers do not have the time to check your business updates, stories, product briefs and services daily. Customers have their own businesses to run. Customers want something that can help them do better business, and the job of social media managers is to provide this information. This is where the rubber meets the road.

Social Media Success Step 7: Analyze and repeat

Did the business realize the aforementioned social media goals? If the business followed through on the six success steps above, it would achieve most of the said objectives. How does one achieve all the goals? It's quite simple: Do more of what's working. Correct what's not. Be nimble! Social media is a fast-changing paradigm. It pays to be creative, and if a business has to start all over again, that's fine! The best barometer for success: Are the customers engaged?

Many small business owners and entrepreneurs need help with their social media management. The experts at oGoing have created a highly affordable social media marketing program for small business that begins at only $99 a month. Learn more

Your customers and prospects are not interested in you or your company. They are not even interested in your product. They are only interested in solving their current particular problem as they perceive it, or generally in meeting their own perceived needs towards their own felt desires."

The key reason for making this change was this epiphany of how oGoing can help small businesses and professionals find solutions to their needs.

As 2013 comes to a close, our thoughts gather around family, friends, and those business acquaintances that helped us along our journey every day of the year. On behalf of the oGoing team, I would like to extend heartfelt thanks to you for your support and belief over the past year.

8. What are your 2013 goals? Did you kill them?

This year, NOVAtime went above and beyond to accomplish its goals.

SSAE16 SOC 1 Type II compliance: NOVAtime completed an in-depth SSAE 16 audit and was declared compliant in May 2013. The SSAE 16 SOC 1 Type II report indicates that our processes, procedures, and controls have been evaluated, tested, and approved by an independent accounting and auditing firm. Overall, this achievement is a strong indication that NOVAtime’s products are backed by high quality resources and services.

Technology: NOVAtime strives to remain up to date with technology trends. This year, we accomplished this goal with the release of NOVAtimeLive™ for Windows 8/RT. This application functions as an extension of the NOVAtime 4000 SaaS solution and offers mobility, a live dashboard, and real-time features. NOVAtimeLive™ also utilizes the convenience of live tiles that compliments the functionality of Windows 8 PCs and Windows RT tablets (e.g. Microsoft Surface).

Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) support: The PPACA (or ACA) includes a “shared responsibility” provision, which requires businesses to provide health care coverage if certain qualifications are met. NOVAtime added a PPACA module that helps customers comply with the provision and avoid penalties.

Community involvement: In addition to contributing to business efficiency, NOVAtime contributes to community recovery and development by donating to disaster relief efforts and participating in local school initiatives.  As a notion of gratitude, we continue to offer aid to the community that has enabled NOVAtime to grow to what it is today.

2013 contributions –

  • Troy High School summer internship program – this past summer, NOVAtime hosted four student interns who gained hands-on experience across various departments.
  • Tzu Chi Free clinic – several NOVAtime employees volunteered at a free clinic in San Bernardino to help disadvantaged residents receive medical, dental, and vision care.
  • American Cancer Society – NOVAtime showed continued the support for the “Relay for Life” program by donating to the fundraiser.
  • Disaster relief – NOVAtime contributed donations to disaster relief efforts that were delivered to China following the earthquake in April and to the Philippines after typhoon Haiyan struck in November.
  • Overseas donations – NOVAtime donated computers to Collège Marie-Anne and Christ the King Secretarial School in Haiti.

5 Success Keys from the Great Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar waving the India flag upon retirement and being carried by his cricket teammates

"India's Cricket God" Sachin Tendulkar retired from cricket after playing for 24 years, amassing over 34,000 runs and breaking most conceivable batting records including 100 total centuries.  The Little Master, as he is affectionately nicknamed, is considered the most successful batsman by cricket fans, players and pundits of our times. What was the secret recipe behind his success? What can we learn from the great Sachin Tendulkar? In USA, Cal Ripken Jr. is nicknamed "The Iron Man" for having played baseball for 21 years straight. Would it be apt to call Tendulkar "The Super Man" for having played cricket for 24 years and becoming the role model and inspiration for millions of cricket fans worldwide? Tendulkar started playing cricket when he was just 16 years old.

What made Sachin Tendulkar super successful? What are his 5 keys to success?

1. Have A Great Role Model
In his interview after the last match that he played in Mumbai, Tendulkar thanked his father. "The most important person in my life, and I have missed him a lot since 1999 when he passed away. He gave me freedom at the age of 11, and told me, 'Chase your dreams, but do not take short cuts. The path might be difficult, but don't give up'. He told me to be a nice human being, which I will try my best to always do. Every time I have done something special and showed my bat, it was for my father."

In order to be great yourself, you must have a great role model. For Tendulkar, the man who inspired him was his father. The advice given by his father is something we have all heard from many before him: "Chasing your dreams and never giving up." But the key difference here is that he also talked about not taking any short cuts. This message is quite easy to forget, as most people, at one time or the other, are more than willing to take the shortest ladder to success. Tendulkar showed strong determination and poise during his 24 years, played fearlessly against the world's fastest bowlers, and always showed and shared enthusiasm for the game.

Ask anyone in the game of cricket to name that one ambassador, The gentleman that everyone would love to regard, and the name that immediately rises to the top is that of Sachin Tendulkar. He is possibly the nicest cricket player around, and a kind human being that his teammates, his adversaries, and fans would openly acknowledge. He is the good man who won everyone over with this good heart and nature. He practiced what he symbolized, what he learnt from his father!

2. Learn the Power of Prayer
Tendulkar spoke fondly of his mother. "I don't know how she dealt with a naughty child like me... She started praying for me the day I started playing cricket. She just prayed and prayed and I think her prayers and blessings have given me the strength to go out and perform."

What is the one lasting image of Tendulkar that we will always remember as he walks out to the ground to play? He always looks up to the sky and quickly takes a bow (and does a silent prayer). His mother taught him early on the secret power of prayer, which made him ever graceful and humble throughout his career. Humility became second nature to this great cricketer in all walks of life, not just cricket. The power of prayer also gave him tremendous internal strength - when you see Tendulkar and his 5 feet 5 inch body, you can't help but think how small and thin this boy was when he started out, and not much changed in his physique even after he became a man. These external physical traits never handicapped this great batsman; he carried the heaviest bat around, and punished the fastest bowlers with aplomb. Only a prayer can give a man this advantage, this asset that makes one perform at the highest level. Some of his best cricket came after he stepped down as the captain of India's team.

3. Have a Great Mentor
There was a special word of thanks for his brother, Ajit. "We have lived this dream together. He sacrificed his career for my cricket. He spotted the spark in me. And it all started from the age of 11 when he took me to Achrekar sir, my coach, and from there on my life changed."

A great mentor can help guide you to success, through the ups and downs of life, while keeping your goals and sense of purpose intact. Tendulkar's brother served as this great mentor for him, from the ripe young age of 11. His brother not only introduced him to a great coach, but also stayed with him and guided him to further success (especially during the youthful years when a young man would have been tempted by so many distractions). In Tendulkar's words, his brother "sacrificed" his career for his cricket. It's quite rare to find such great mentors. One must seek out mentors who can help us at every stage of our career and life.

4. Have a Great Partner

He smiled as he spoke of how "the most beautiful thing happened to me in 1990 when I met my wife, Anjali." The crowd responded by cheering and indulging in some good-natured whistling. Then he spoke emotionally of how Anjali sacrificed her career as a doctor so that she could take the responsibility of the family. "Without that, I don't think I would have been able to play cricket freely and without stress... You are the best partnership I've had in my life."

Behind every successful man, there is a strong, wise and hardworking woman. Tendulkar found a great partner in his wife Anjali. She became the rock of the family and kept their family together, as he went out to play all over the world, and play well without any stress. His life partner took away all his worries about his family, his parents, his kids, their education, their health, his home and all family obligations. The job of a great wife is often under-noticed and under appreciated. It takes a greater man to acknowledge the value of a great life partner and ensuring family success.

5. Have a Great Coach
The boyish streak in him surfaced as he spoke of his delight that his coach, Ramakant Achrekar, had finally come to watch him play in a stadium. "In the last 29 years, Sir has never ever said 'well played' to me because he thought I would get complacent and stop working hard. Maybe he can push his luck now and say 'well done' on my career, because there are no more matches, sir, in my life."

Tendulkar's coach made sure that the Little Master would never become complacent and always keep on working hard. This reminds us of the Energizer Bunny... You Keep Going and Going. Another thing to consider is knowing the difference between a coach and a mentor. A coach focuses on the tasks at hand, is driven by short term goals and performance, and has direct involvement at all times. A mentor focuses instead on the relationships, driven by longer term development from within, and has indirect involvement. Tendulkar has indeed been lucky to have a great coach through his storied career.

Here was my post on oGoing upon Tendulkar's retirement:
