1. Can you tell us about you and your business? 

The “International Standard for Lean Six Sigma (ISLSS)” is a management consulting firm that specializes in training, project coaching, deployment planning, Kaizen Events, process improvement marketing, and Lean Six Sigma certification.

We are doing well, we are owner of the LinkedIn Lean Six Sigma Group that currently has 207,000 members We have over 2,000 jobs posted on our boards each week, and grow over 5,000 new members each month.

3. What gets you going? 

We love our customers and it is a value for our team to want to wow “delight” our customers every single day. We even guarantee a 4:1 Return on Investment to our customers. 6. How do you find new customers? Or customers find you?

Customers find us. We operate by references. Our exposure as the leader in Lean Six Sigma on the various social networking sites and through our partnerships enables new customers to find us, while our existing customers are extremely satisfied with our results and call us back for repeat business often.

7. What is your biggest challenge? What help do you need to overcome this?

We offer Open Enrollment training programs internationally, these are often 3-4 workshops that range 2-3 days each, so that when traveling Internationally we can develop students quickly on a number of business skills in a 2 week visit to that country. Each workshop needs a minimum of 15 students to run the workshop and a maximum of 30 students in order to justify the trip to that country. In a 2 week trip we can deliver 4 workshops over the 10 business days and so can develop a total of 120 professionals. These are open enrollment training workshops and could use help in filling these seats so that we can travel to more countries – growing the talent needed to execute business process improvement transformation projects.

8. What are your 2013 goals? Did you kill them? 

One of our 2013 goals was to publish a Kaizen Event book. Yes we will kill this goal. We are completing final edits in October, Book Reviews by November, Graphics by December, and Publication in Jan 2014.

9. Can you share some tips with our community?

Business Networking is not a periodic activity but a daily activity. It is important to manage ones time so as to prioritize not only business execution, business development, but also in sharing results. Business Networking allows others to see your performance, build your professional image, and create exposure of your value proposition. All three are critical to long-term strategic growth.

How did you get started? 
Allan Koven CLU, my father and founder started Koven Insurance over 35 years ago in Anaheim. I joined the business 5 years ago after selling an internet company I was a co-owner of based in Newport Beach. How is your business doing? 
With Obamacare’s inception becoming law in a matter of mere months, we’re working hard as advisors to understand every aspect of this landmark health insurance legislation reform. It’s been a roller coaster of a year so far but we’re confident that with client education and patience and our ability to help navigate these tricky waters, it will, eventually, be seamless.

What gets you going? 
An advisor of any professional field has an important obligation to their clients. They need to listen closely instead of talking. They need to digest information and offer practical solutions. What gets me going? Waking up each morning knowing I’m helping someone through a confusing and often complex process. That feels good. It feels right.

What are your products or services, and key benefits? 
We specialize in individual/family and small business (under 50 lives) health insurance, but at our company we write a lot of life insurance, both permanent and temporary, for families as well.  We also offer dental, vision and other insurance lines as well as annuities, disability and medicare.

Who are your customers? Can you share a brief story? 
Our clients are business owners, homemakers, students, professionals, the guy working at Subway and everyone in between who understands how important having insurance is.

What are your 2013-2014 goals?  
We really enjoy working with small group business owners. There’s bound to be plethora of questions pertaining to employee benefits over the next year and we are poised to answer every single one of them. The law is complicated. We are certified to market within the Covered California exchange and licensed to market “off the exchange”.

Can you share some tips with the community? 
Persistence, honesty and diligence is crucial when dealing with something as personal as insurance. Running a business such as this requires extraordinary communication skills and follow through. Rapport is imperative, of course.

1. Create Beautiful Profile. Edit your Social Network Profile, update your correct company information, and add your beautiful company logo (go to Settings after you login). If you are also on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and YouTube, connect these to your profiles. The more complete a profile, the better visibility it gets on Google, Yahoo and Bing and other search engines, resulting in higher SEO ranking. Don't forget to confirm your account email to get full access, receive notifications, and greater exposure.

Great recommendations go a long way towards establishing credibility and trust. Remember, your prospects are always checking your online ratings and when they see those five stars next to your profile, they are more confident and ready to do business with you.

Share updates about what's going on - at least once a week (and if you are on Twitter or Google+, daily!). Talk about your business, best practices, tips, industry articles, and news which are relevant for your clients. Post lots of photos, images and videos. Great visuals are more engaging. Ask questions and get feedback from clients. Post upcoming events. Create monthly offers. Provide a free download. The more updates you share, the more exposure and visibility you create online which generates free traffic.

4. Build Quality Connections.
Connect with member businesses, customers, prospects and influencers. Go to Search or Find Business and search for members based on industry / location / name / certification / activity, and after you find them, Follow them. When you follow members, they are notified about your business, and many would connect back with you. Learn more about their businesses. Find out what their needs are. Spend some time on their website. Once you follow them, you can keep up with what they are sharing.

5. Engage with Customers.
Promote members who connect with you by sharing their profile, mentioning them, asking questions, sending direct message, and responding to their conversations. The more you engage with members, the more they warm up to do business with you.

 When was the last time you liked, shared, commented or replied to a member's update? Everyone loves interaction. Next time you login, don't forget to "high five" a member's update.

1. What led you to start Gin Rummy Association? How is the progress?
Prior to starting the Gin Rummy Association, John played in most all of the Gin Rummy Tournaments across the country. In 1999 he gave an interview that was published in the Cigar Aficionado: The Gin Mill | Good Life Guide | Cigar Aficionado  Winner of more than 20 tournaments, and consistently in the top 10 of most events. John, with his wife and partner Lily Ann, decided to dedicate themselves to creating a new level of tournament excellence. Now with gin rummy being played on the Internet, and more and more players getting introduced to the game, John and Lily Ann felt the time was right to bring to the game and gin rummy tournaments a new era of excellence. The World Series of Gin Rummy™ has been approved by the United States Patent and Trademark Office to Lily Ann and John Hainline.

2. What are your key products and services? What are the benefits?
We launched the live Gin Rummy Tournaments. The format for the tournaments allows participants to compete in partnership and singles events. A player can choose either or both venues depending on their preference. There also are clear directions for making the finals. In the partnership tournament, a team must win 4 or 5 games to be in the finals. For the Singles Tournament, a person must win 10 out of the 16 games to make the finals.
3. Why do customers love Gin Rummy? Can you share a customer story?
Most gin rummy players have been playing for years and starting when they were quite young. The game was a favorite being played around the kitchen table with parents and grandparents. Gin Rummy is very popular in that it requires some skill and knowledge. According to Steve Cloud, a gin rummy player, unlike poker, a hand of gin can start out with 10 unrelated cards and in the course of drawing and discarding, one can manage to make a gin hand. The beauty lies in the strategy.

4. What are the values that drive your business forward?
John, with his wife and partner Lily Ann, decided to dedicate themselves to creating a new level of tournament excellence.

5. How do you define success within your company?
Success is measured by the number of Gin Rummy tournaments continuing to be held in Las Vegas.
